The Stables Bar

July 11: The girls and I have been trying to make a lunch booking at The Stables Bar twice before, but on both of those occasions (one was 1 day before and one was 2 days before) were told that they are fully booked, so this time around I called to book 2 weeks in advance.

One of the benefits of having a lunch booking, is that we get to pre-order our food in advance so that we don't have to waited forever for it to come out, or so I thought. As requested at time of booking, I sent in our pre-order form a day in advance. Come Thursday morning, one of the girls wanted to change her order. I called The Stable Bar right away to make that change.

At 1pm we rocked up and got seated at our reserved table. Moment later, a waitress came around and gave us their lunch menu. I told her that we've already pre-order our meals. She looks confused but took the menu away anyway. Later, another one came out to say that our pre-order lunches are not substantial enough and ask if we wanted to order some more. We said no and are happy with what we have ordered.

When the food finally came out; a good 10-15 minutes later and guess what? One of the orders I called to change that morning wasn't change at all; another disappointment.  
Love the decor; the food was ok, a bit over-priced but the service upstairs was just terrible. Not impressed at all.

On a positive note, Miss Katie and I have dined downstairs once before and the service there was so much better.

  1. Great pics! I agree about the service. We went in their opening week so I thought it could be teething problems but sound like they haven't ironed them out yet...

  2. Oohh I just went during the week and had so many issues with the service like you did :( luckily the food made up for it!

    1. Sad to hear that their service haven't improved since my last visit, but GOOD to know that the food stay the same (quality) for now ^_^ Your photos looking delish though, I must try the Lemon Battered Whole Whitebait with Smoked Paprika Mayonnaise next time I go there for a snack!!!
