BMT Bánh Mì Thịt

Inspired by photos posted on Urbanspoon by other diners, I decided to hunt down BMT and trying out their Bánh Mì Thịt (that is what "BMT" stand for).

BMT wasn't hard to find, the sign was clearly visible from afar and the shop was constantly busy with shoppers going in and out with carried on conversations from the regulars.

I was in awe as soon as I stepped inside the shop. There were food everywhere, not just Bánh Mì Thịt which is the main thing they sell here, but other assortment of take-away meals and sweet treats as well.

Assortment of treats from sweets to savouries ツ

More treats..... ツ

Pate Chaud (hot pastry), sticky rice rolls, freshly made green mustard pickles *YUM!* ツ

The sight of food got me so excited, that I practically forgot what I originally wanted to get from this shop! It took me a good 15 minutes of going back and forth deciding what to get in the end. Mere Male (MM) was with me, so I wasn't able to go on my usual "food" shopping spree as freely as I wanted to and so I settled for the Bánh Mì Thịt and our usual favourite drinks of sugarcane juice.

There weren't any tables or seats available at the shop, so we took our breakfast and juices to the nearest park to eat.

the Bánh Mì Thịt! It has a good balance of meats, pickles and butter (not your average kind of butter, but the Vietnamese kind which usually consisted of egg yolk, olive oil and a pinch of salt - similar to the making of mayonnaise but minus the vinegar and the mustard).

I like the Nước Mía (sugarcane juice) too, but it was lacking a bit of zing from a squeeze of lime juice or preferably kumquat, other than that it was a great drink and so refreshing too!

There were so many other good treats to try at the shop, but of course... I can't try them all out at once Smiley note to self though... I will be back for other treats very soon!!!
