Dragon Palace City Restaurant and Bar

Aug 05: The girls and I were cravings Dim Sum for lunch and what better than Dragon Palace in the CBD!

Located in the Woodside Plaza (entry from Hay Street), Dragon Palace is a very modern restaurant & bar in Perth's West End.

One aspect unique to dim sum is its method of serving in specialised dim sum brunch restaurants or teahouses. Here dishes are pushed around the restaurant on steam carts (or on trays), with servers offering the dishes to customers. Pricing of dishes at these types of restaurants may vary, but traditionally the dishes are classified as "small", "medium", "large", or "special" (a menu item not typically considered dim sum fare, such as a plate of chow mein). You can also order from the menu as well.

First thing first, I ordered tea. The drinking of tea is as important to dim sum as the food and I don't just ordered any "chinese" tea, it has to be my favourite of "Tie Guan Yin". Tie Guan Yin tea is one of the most famous Oolong Tea. It is a type of semi-fermented tea, the Tie Guan Yin is less common but has a slightly fruity aroma and taste. Tie Guan Yin is also known to aid digestion.

Amongst the 3 of us we ordered Chilli Pepper Chicken Wings [Katie & Chi's favourite], BBQ Pork Buns, Steamed Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce and Xiao Long Bao (also known as Shanghai Dumplings) [my favourite ].
Chilli Pepper Chicken Wings *YUM!* ツ
BBQ Pork Buns ツ
Steamed Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce ツ
Xiao Long Bao [Shanghai Dumplings] ツ
All this + tea = $30.00 (approx) ツ

Service at Dragon Palace was really quick and cheap too. Our meal tally up to be just a bit under $30 for 3 people, which could possibly make it to my Cheap Eats [and delicious] Lunch under $10.00 Guide!!!

It is recommended that you make table reservation towards the end of the week, as they can get really busy on Thursdays and Fridays. Dragon Palace also opens for Dim Sum on the weekends for CBD residence and visitors alike.
