Hey Griller

A group of foodies and I got invited to Hey Griller for dinner a few weeks ago. Hey Griller was recently opened in Victoria Park, serving modern Australian with a touch of Asian Fusion grill cuisine. 

We started off with a selection of dishes from their Entrée and HGTM Skewers sections.

The Prawn Toasts (4 pcs) topped with sautéed squid, garlic sauce and caviar drizzled with chilli oil came out first.

Followed by the Pan Grilled Squid my favourite! The Pan Grilled Squid (2 pcs) were brushed with herbs and spices and cooked til nice and tender. We were lucky to have one squid each and it was soooo good!

The Lamb & Pork Skewers came out next; I tasted a bit of the lamb skewer but find that the flavouring wasn't as good as the pork and so I went straight for the rest of the pork skewers or as much skewers as I could get my hands on *grinned*

The Embotido of grilled pork and sultana roulade served with smoked corn salsa came out about the same time.

The Chicken & Vegetable Karima of crispy pastry stuffed with chicken / grilled marinated vegetables with adobo chipotle sauce and mayonnaise, served with chips.

I didn't get a chance to taste the Chicken Karima but the Vegetables one with eggplants and zucchinis were so tasty and flavoursome!

For my main, I ordered the perfectly cooked skin on Salmon on top of sautéed vegetables and spinach and a dollop of cauliflower puree sprinkled with roasted pistachios. I was a bit sceptical of the cauliflower puree as it was not something I usually eat but it turned out to be quite tasty and compliments the rest of the ingredients really well.

Everyone seems to raved on the Chocolate and Hazelnut Fudge (served in a cup topped with torched marshmallows and a scoop of ice cream), but I find that it was too sweet for my liking - I much preferred the Grilled Watermelon (served w/ vanilla ice cream and in house made lime sorbet) however, despite it being quite plain and rather simple compared to the torched marshmallows. Yes I liked the simple things in life.
